I sit here.

Okay, time to spew my brainstew about bike things.

I bought a 1955 Schwinn traveler and spent most of this morning cleaning it and inspecting it. It has a small generator that powers a two lights, a tail light and a headlight. It is great because now I don't have to buy a light for night riding. So, naturally I wouldn't be using the lights during the day so i have all that extra power to use. The plan as it is in my brain is this:
Biking during the day supplies power to a battery which then can later be switched to power LED lights for night riding. Also, the battery would power a odometer and speedometer. More on how those would work later. This would involve wiring the power from the generator into a battery circuit. Then have a switch for the LEDs to turn on.

How would a DIY odometer work you ask. Well the most basic way that I have at the moment is using a calculator.You press + 3 (assuming 3ft is the cicumfrence of your bikes tire). then using a reed switch and some soldering, make it so the bike presses = every time your bike tire rotates once. this adds 3 to the total. So eventually you get where your going and you have how many ft you biked. If you want, you can use the MR+ button to store your mileage until next trip.

TIm Fite

So I got this CD from ANTI- records and it's (in my opinion) damn good. The album is Fair Ain't Fair by Tim Fite. It's strange. Every song has a different styled beat, from whistling to heavy bass and Fite's singing, which is very more like talking. His voice is always melodic and is full of rhymes, alliteration, and repetion. I don't know why I like it so much, maybe because no one else has really heard of him. He has catchy songs that I can't get out of my head. I just got two albums for free from his website, so I'm excited to listen to them. If anyone wants to give them a listen to (not like anyone reads this), just let me know.

Jobs

So, the job hunt has begun. I finally got my rejection letter from NWA and I have to start looking or other work. Today I applied to guitar center and radioshack. These two popped in my head as jobs with pretty decent benefits, pay, and environment. Guitar center is pretty obvious, guitars, discount gear, ability to work without being a guitar god like at willies or knowing 5 instruments like at music go round. The work would be warehouse associate, or at least thats the one i applied to, they also have operations assistant, and customer operations. I really couldn't figure out what those two meant, so I went with the warehouse one. Radioshack wouldn't be too bad in my opinion, although my opinion of RS isn't too great. Whenever I go in there, no other customers are there, and the person seems pretty laid back. The benefits would be discounted electronics, which means a lot of things that i would love getting at a cheaper rate. I think this would be a sales job and I figure I could be a decent salesman. Part of the problem I have with it might be that I get paid in commission, so the pay would vary and I probably wouldn't make too many huge sales off the bat. But you never know.
Another thing I'm doing for money this summer is yardwork: mowing lawns, pulling weeds, other nonsense. Yard work pays well but it is off/on. I'll be making 45 a week mowing lawns, so I figure if necessary I can live off that.
The problem is that I want to spend money this summer, starting with music. Yesterday I saw building better bombs and had to resist from buying a shirt and a cd/lp. So I just got a shirt, but it's a kick ass shirt. But with shows like soundset, summerfest (show + gas), cd release parties, and the idea of radiohead in indianapolis. I want to have the possibility to buy an xbox or something to spend my time with. Anyways, that can go in a different blog.

My lastest eBay purchase

I recently have wanted a cooler, hipper, and more functional bag for carrying my books, laptop and other things. So I started looking online, the only place to find detailed reviews of hip cool things. So I found a lot of bags: side bags, messenger bags, and laptop bags. I wanted a bag that had a lot of room to hold my laptop, books, and extras that I could need. I found a lot that were just enough room for a laptop. Then I found the Crumpler brand, who sells many interesting named bags for all different sized laptops. They are definitely in the height of fashion. I started looking at one bag, but found out it was for 17" laptops, which is huge, and didn't need one that big. So I found the part and parcel. Made for most all 15.4" laptops, durable material, 3 pockets, one for a lappie, one for books, and one for accessories. I saw it was 160 buck-a-roos and kinda lost a bit of motivation. Then I reembered my recent eBay buying streak, and searched for it. Found one, slightly used (only a few pen marks on the inside) going at the time for 40$. I started watching it for a few days, it went up to 60$, and I was still happy it was less than 160$. So, it came to be the day when it was ending at 9 in the morning on a saturday, meaning not realy sleeping in. I got up and sat and watched. It counted down. Finally under a minute. Was around 80$. I was going to bid for 90$, thining it a fair price. I decided that if I didn;t get it at 90 I'd goto 100$. It was worth it. I then thought that if I wu=ould goto 100, might as well start with that as my maximum bid. Final seconds, I bid, and the bidding closes. I win for 91$. I sigh in relief as I relize I wouldn't have won for 90 alone. but by risking the 100 I win for 91. I pay for the shipping, and go back to bed. 4 days, 3 buisness days, I get the bag in the mail. It's awesome. It has enough room to hold my books and my laptop comfortably. the lappie is a tight fit, takes a minute to get it in right, but after that I feel like its not going anywhere or getting hurt at all. It was totally worth the buy.

From music is wonderful into my goals

How did music get so amazing? Where did that happen and why wasn't I there? I was listening to Belles of Skin City and I realized, for the millionth time, how much I love music and in that case, music with great jamming abilities. Bands like that: Belles, Fugazi, Hockey Night, Stnnng, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and many others just blow my mind. I would buy a CD of hem just messing around for an hour or two because it would have some great drum, bass, and guitar runs that might not make it into a song, but still might have a great sound. I told bass on bass that we should jam like that and they pointed out that those musicians had been in previous bands, had years of practice, and were very talented at improvising. Sadly, I don't really fit any of those properties. That's why I always get this jolt of inspiration to make great music and I don't because I don't know how to. I think I will start practicing more during my free time instead of playing GTA or Stumbling Upon random websites. Oh man, how many pages I could fill with my repeating cycle of wanting to do so much. I want to make guitar effects, play guitar, record guitar, play drums, write lyrics, make a desktop background, listen to music, write in this blog, ace my classes, find new music, and a few other things. Too much I say, but really I could do it if I wanted to, I just don't use my free time that productively.

Finding music, and music shows.

I've been recently trying to find a good way to find new music that I will like. I have tried the major music review sites, cokemachineglow, pitchfork, and meta critic. These mostly have a good sense of what's good and what simply isn't. But most of the artists I have never heard of and are really either not my taste or something I am unable to get my hands on. This makes it hard to find and listen to new music. On my radio show, there is a 4 new songs per hour minimum that we have to follow. This means I hear about 4-6 new songs which has led me onto some decent bands, but nothing amazing because the amazing ones are hyped enough that I recognize the name off the shelf and I pass it by. I then rip the CD's and listen too them later, or I don't. I usually get too much music that I don't know where to stat listening to it, which makes it hard to listen to the music, espescially all the way though. I never really get the full hour and a half span of time to listen to an album all the way through, but I want to. I'll start it in a break and I will have time planned out,but then I'll get another song, usually a single stuck in my head and so I'll switch and ruin my roll. I dunno what way I should follow to really get into the music and eventually start writing reviews on this blog. Maybe I'll just figure it out. Who knows?

Video Games

How are they so very fun. I just semi-beat crysis (I haven't technically killed the final boss, but I will soon). and I am getting gears of war to play because I've heard it's worth it. This post is mostly for testing rss feeds so w/e.
